Widespread and much publicized changes have occurred in the music industry during the past decade. In the meantime, the template for traditional music venues has changed very little. The Royal Room acknowledges the necessary evolution of the live music model by offering artists access to residencies, content acquisition and affordable recording options. The Royal Room aspires to compliment the many excellent venues that already exist as part of the Seattle music community, providing benefits for both artists and the public alike.
The Royal Room provides musicians the following: backline, including bass and guitar amps, drums, Hammond B3, a Steinway Model B grand piano, a Fender Rhodes and more. All concerts, with the permission of the artists, are recorded live to two track, and video taped. Multi-track recording is available upon request and per mutually agreeable terms. With the artists permission, edited content will be posted regularly on YouTube and available for podcast. Select concerts will include live audio streaming. For further information see our venue specs page.
Programming at the Royal Room does not focus on any set style of music, but it does emphasize local music, residencies and special projects unique to the space. By promoting the development of new projects as part of long term residencies, the Royal Room offers artists an opportunity to develop, document and promote their work.
With affordable rates, the Royal Room stage is available for daytime rehearsals and recording Monday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. The space is also avialable to bands wishing to set up and prepare for multi-track recording or streaming of that evening's performance.
